Special Programs
Break away from the ordinary with the activities that make a summer at Camp Manitou really special.
Cabin and Unit Programs
Cabin Days and Bunk Nights
If campers make friends while they’re here, we consider that a successful summer. At Camp Manitou, cabin groups eat, rest, and enjoy free time together. They’ll also form a team for activities like canoe trips, flagpole, cookouts and a camp-out across the river.

Evening Programs
After flagpole, units assemble for their evening program. Tournaments, spas, coffee houses, game shows, camp fires and treasure hunts are among the many favourites.

Campwide Programs
Manny Games
For our first session campers, Manny Games is a great way to finish off their session, and for full season campers, it’s a great change of pace half way through the summer. A late night break sets the tone as camp is divided into four teams based on a theme. Past themes include Holidays, Board Games, Mythical Lands and Music Genres. Our campers are always trying to guess what’s coming next, as this amazing day full of sports, arts and outdoor adventure competitions is sure to keep you moving!

World Games
Like the Olympics, but an even bigger deal. For the final days of our second season, campers are divided into two teams and pick a country to represent. Our countries sing, cheer, do dramatic presentations, traditional dances and host a themed dinner representing their country. We like to end the season with a bang.

Friday Night Fireside
On Friday nights, the entire camp gathers around a bonfire. We sing songs, share poems and express ourselves creatively to explore important themes like friendship, friendship, respect or self-esteem.

Theatre Nights and Talent Shows
An evening of theatre is always fun, especially with all the talented musicians, dancers and actors at Manitou. From talent shows, energetic dance routines to a full musical production, there’s always something exciting happening on Manitou’s stage.

Carnival
Once every session, the carnival comes to Manitou. The main field fills with inflatable games, magicians, petting zoos, popcorn and cotton candy. There’s even face paint!

Halloween
Halloween overflows with so much fun that we had to start a second one in August. Pack a costume, because we have trick-or-treating, haunted houses and all kinds of spooky celebrations.

Midnight Madness
Imagine this: it’s late night. You sneak out to a secret location. Suddenly, the lights go out. What happens next? Midnight Madness! Music fills the air, the stage show starts, snacks are served and the entire camp plays their favourite party games.

Theme Days
You never know when the main field might get turned into a tennis court, the next episode of “Chris’ Playhouse” finally airs, or Santa decides to make an off-season appearance. Something creative is always happening in some corner of the camp.

Canoe Trips
Canoe trips are where some of our greatest memories are made. Learning to cook by the fire, pitching a tent for the first time, paddling up the Temagami River—it’s a transformative experience.
To introduce our youngest campers to canoeing, we take them on an overnight stay across the river from camp. It’s a great opportunity to get used to the whole experience.
Older campers can choose trips that last anywhere between 3 and 10 days. Every trip is led by a qualified counsellor who can teach all the necessary skills, but also show campers how to appreciate the environment around them.
We strongly encourage everyone to join in on canoe trips, but they are completely voluntary.
